Hakimo Secures $12 Million in Fresh Funding to Expand AI-Powered Physical Security Platform

Hakimo, an AI-powered physical security startup based in the US, has raised $12 million (approximately ₹103 crore) in funding. The company plans to use these funds to expand into new cities and develop new technologies.

Hakimo was founded in 2020 by two IIT Madras engineers, Sam Joseph and Sagar Honnungar. While conducting AI research at Stanford University, they observed that physical security systems were still relying on outdated methods and an over-dependence on cameras; they realized that integrating AI technology could significantly streamline and improve these operations.

The company secured its initial seed funding of $4 million in 2021, after which it began expanding its operations, starting with airports, offices, and warehouses.

Its core services include AI-based video monitoring, 24/7 real-time security surveillance, automated detection of suspicious activities, integration with access control systems, and the provision of smart alerts and reporting for security teams.

By leveraging AI and focusing on the future of security systems, the company is well-positioned for significant growth.
